About Chroma Logic
Every company has a story behind how they got started. We think ours is worth telling because it says a lot about who we are, and emphasizes the experience and qualifications that got us here...
Chroma Logic began as a partnership in April of 2000 when two technical guys decided to leave a very large paper company and strike out on their own. Throughout the previous decade we had been the founder’sand core of a very small but highly profitable group within International Paper’s Technology Division, called Color Technology.
Responsible for all the procedures and technology associated with maintaining paper appearance, Color Technology consistently earned the highest per capita return of any group within IP’s Technology Division (which at that time employed roughly 800 people). Our annual bottom line impact averaged over $15 million dollars between 1993 and 2000. Not bad for a group that started with just two people in 1991.
During this time we visited mills throughout the world and made color process recommendations for machines that produced almost every paper and non-woven fiber product imaginable. As we became familiar withthe best and the worst of what was out there, one thing became increasingly evident. Each machine we scrutinized suffered chronic and unnecessary losses due to their dye metering equipment. Even machines with new and very expensive dye systems fell into disturbing patterns of lost time for color within as little as a year after startup. What was worse is that these mills were generally unaware of just how much time their dye systems were costing them.
In 1996 we began to look for a better approach by investigating alternative metering pumps. In late 1998 we constructed our first portable prototype that integrated a host of new features that were unavailable to conventional metering equipment. Despite its early design and numerous limitations this initial system gained rapid acceptance across the company. In the end of 1999 when International Paper announced its plan to relocate our group to Ohio, John and I chose instead to start our own company and devote full-time to the complete re-engineering of a state-of-the-art dye and chemical delivery system.
We have since refined and proven the very best metering equipment available to the industry. Unlike traditional dye metering equipment that is engineered by those who sell systems across numerous industries, Chroma Logic has applied in-depth color process experience to develop a completely optimized dye system just for papermaker’s. There is no system available to the paper industry today that can matchthe performance and features of Chroma Logic’s dye metering equipment.
We invite you to challenge us in this regard. The more you know about the color process, the more certain we are that Chroma Logic will be your only choice for dye and chemical metering equipment!
